Avoiding plagiarism
“An academic integrity”
Learners need to develop academic integrity skills to avoid
misconduct which can lead to low grades or discontinuation.
Academic integrity is the moral code or ethical policy of
academia (Openlearning, 2018).
“All referred works must be cited, be it a tweet, an
image, sound, a book or an article” and listed on a reference.
Any type of cheating that occurs in relation to any formal
academic exercise is academic dishonesty (Openlearning, 2018).
Example: plagiarism, cheating,
impersonation and deception
Plagiarism
The presentation of another person’s work, in part or in
whole without citation/ as it were yours.
Plagiarism takes various forms including copy and paste
without citation, summarizing an idea without citation, wrong citations, using
a work created by another person etc
