#mguukwamguu S01E01 Report

"Tujifunze kwa waliookoka"
Graduate v2.0 members refreshing after a thorough discussion

Mguu kwa mguu is a series of events each month aiming to expose graduate and continuous students to professionalism, create confidence and access opportunities to increase employability through visiting companies and organisations or having a forum. This report describes the last event happened on 5th January. 2020 from 9:30 to 6:00 at Falava hut Majumba mengi.

The goal of the event was to identify opportunities to maximize the potential of educated youth. The mode was participatory and every member made a contribution on what he/she perceive to be an opportunity for a young professional.

An educated person
Someone disruptive, who want to challenge the status quo.  He has got the privilege to learn and therefore expected to make a contribution from family to the community level like being a leader, start a business, start movements, share ideas, solve problems, ask questions etc.

Opportunities for educated youth
With technology, today’s youth are more exposed than the previous generation thanks to Instagram, YouTube and google. But, access to the internet alone does not guarantee everything. They need a hands-on and real experience which can be guaranteed by the following.

Mentorship/leadership, educated youth lack experience and therefore fail when they make attempts, as a result, they fear to make more initiatives. They need technical advice and directives in their course of actions from experienced people.

Disruptive mindset, education takes us to the first step of the ladder, it is up to us to climb, and you can climb with water, food or nothing. Youth need to see success stories from self-aware and talented people, social entrepreneurs, leaders and businessmen and challenge themselves with new creative ideas.

Learn, aliyeokoka anasalia kila siku na msomi anajifunza kila siku. Jenga tabia ya kujifunza kila siku kwasababu dunia inabadilika na ulivyosoma au malezi uliyopewa yanawea yasikusaidie kwa mahitaji ya sasa, subscribe to medium, read and share articles, follow world economic forum and you will see changes.

Capital, youth need to develop their own saving mechanisms. Products like m-koba which are mobile, transparency and secure offer opportunities for saving and access loans. Think of how you get money on everything you want to do.

Technology, youth should leverage technology on everything because they have access to it and are knowledgeable on it, it lowers cost, it is scalable and modern. On  everything you think, consider technology

Collaboration, in partnership everyone needs to understand what he/she wants and there should be agreement. Everyone should be responsible and you should not rely on one person. Be aggressive and creative to make contribution to the team.

Way forward.
